Presently, people leaving the US and becoming citizens of other countries face a tax of their “estate” - their assets - when they leave, and may even be subject to income tax for a period of time after they emigrate.

I know of not similar restrictions on those bringing money or assets into the country.

So, should “open borders” work both ways? Why or why not?

What would happen if there were a “one time amnesty” for BOTH those coming in, and going out?

Should future enforcement of one be tied to furure enforcement of the other? If one is enforced more strictly, why?

I guess this also is a question about how people feel about the estate tax in general.

My friend married a non-US citizen almost 2 yrs ago. His wife is applying for permanent residence or citizenship (not sure which one). Anyway, he requested me to write a letter to support that their marriage is not a sham. I know that their marriage is for real. But I’m not sure what kind of details should I write about?

Concisely, I am interrogating about how would you guess or visualize our country if people from around the world could not travel or live here legally?
